The village is within the St. James Fire District for fire and emergency medical technician services. Fire hydrants are serviced by Suffolk County Water Authority and St. James Water District.

The Saint James Fire Department Engine company donated $1000.00 to the Burn Center Foundation. This donation was partially funded by the proceeds of the 5K Annual Run through Head of the Harbor.
